Comment: I have had dual careers ... one in the military and one in politics.  I'm a retired Air Force Brigadier General, and was for 22 yearsan elected member of the Minneapolis City council. The only (and last) Republican elected in that city.

Now, in retirement, I serve on numerous volunteer boards and commissions.  Ham and Eggs has been an enjoyable organization for the past 12 years.
As former National President of the 63,000 member University of Minnesota Alumni Association, I am deeply involved in our Gopher Nation.  My wife of 41 years, Pam, is from Pasadena and was a loyal USC fan (our first date was the USC vs Gopher game when O.J. Simpson led them to a last minute victory).  We attend almost every Gopher game and she is beginning to doubt my prediction of a "Rose Bowl" for the Gophers.

We don't have any children of our own and are both "only children" ... so our family is pretty small.  However, after serving as Aquatennial Commodore, we have been "adopted" as parents and now grandparents of our Aquatennial Queens and their children.

As an Air Force Academy Liaison Officer for many years, I have personally mentored 67 young men and women who have won commissions from that outstanding institution.  A couple became doctors, one an astronaut, several pilots, a couple attorneys, two scientists, one ambassador and the current commander of Andrews AFB in Washington D.C.

I'm currently a civilian advisor to the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force and meet with him 3-4 times each year.  Much of my volunteer time is now spent working on programs to assist the young men and women who serve in the military.  I'm a founder and chair of the Minnesota Military Appreciation Fund which has raised $12 million and given grants of $500 to $10,000 to over 11,000 military members who have served in a combat area after 9-11.

Pam and I have vacationed in Maui for over 30 years.  Now, as a "retired slug" we get to spend a couple months over there every year.  We also try to take at least one cruise each year and a few other short trips.

Thanks to e-mail, I'm able to keep up with the ten boards I serve even while out of state.  It doesn't seem to matter if I answer my 100 daily messages while sitting in my office at home or on my lanai watching the whales in Maui.

As the highest ranking Air Force Officer in the state, I am often asked to give ceremonial and miitary speeches.  Last year, I gave over 50 speeches around the state.

Mark Stageberg

Interests: Besides enjoying the trial lawyer pursuits, I play a lot of golf and tennis and enjoy grandkids, hunting, skiing, fishing, book writing, and traveling.
Comment: After graduating with honors in 1969 from the U. of M. law school, I pursued a career as a trial lawyer.  Having never been interested in any of the other areas of law, I tell people: don't come to me for a will or to form a corporation; but if you want to sue someone or you get sued, come to me.  I have tried over 175 jury cases, with seven injury and death verdicts over $1 million.

In the spring of 2012 I published and printed a memoir of my trial experiances called "Win Some Lose Some".  If you go to my web site you will find the book described.
